I've always loved a story's world building from their maps. It gives a sense of the setting and can immerse readers/players into them.
I've been drawing fantasy maps since I was 13. However, I kept them to myself and some if not most were drawn in books and paper that often get destroyed or missing. Besides just drawing a cool looking map, it was interesting to see how geopolitical shaped the maps. I almost cream myself whenever I see detailed, informative maps like cultural map data. Also, I am somewhat inspired to draw "political" maps from grand strategy games.
The ones I draw and upload here are, as I say, intentionally bad because it was drawn by just some guy and not a copied from satellite images. (not coping)
So this is just a place of me storing them, also sharing (even if no one cares ;-;) in a neat place in the interwebs.
Do not mind the "OCT 22" written on the bottom right. I think I confused the month when I was writing that whoops~
I made this thinking that this was something more different than the maps I had previously drawn. Most are just like regular flat maps. So I thought doing like this globe like shape would look unique. Added the overarching hand behind it to sort of signify some sort of domination by a certain power in the world.
I had a lot of fun (read: torture) drawing fjords here. I hadn't drawn much northern based maps and since looking at the real world map of the world I thought it'd be nice to try out drawing them. Also, first time drawing rivers into the land instead of getting them confused with roads.
In my mind, the canon of this drawing is that it was drawn in more ancient or older times when only this part of the world was known to either the artist or the nearby societies. It is not accurate of the actual world continents but accurate enough to portray like an old world map.
There's 3 versions here I uploaded, one (3rd) is the original which after scanning wasn't too clear so I tampered a bit (2nd) then the final image (1st) has sort of a degraded, aged piece of map.
Finished on 22 September 2022 and uploaded on 12 October 2022.
